What Happened In Jerusalem Was An Act Of Insanity, Not Terrorism
What happened in Jerusalem was not an act of terror. Man wasn't affiliated with any terror group, but clearly was disturbed and acting alone. I'm not saying individuals can't perpetrate terror, but it's a fine line. We're nearing point where we can't distinguish between terrorism and individual acts of insanity where a person happens to scream, "Allah akbar!" We must look at the nature of each specific crime. If this were a suicide bomber, there would be no question about whether it was terror. But it wasn't, it was an insane man who took a bulldozer and drove wild through a busy street.

Arab-Israeli's Rampage On City's Streets Leaves Three Dead, 45 Injured
Hasam Dwayyat had all he needed yesterday to inflict mayhem, terror and death on a huge scale.

He had what must have been a massive rage, and he drove an enormous machine – a Caterpillar 966H wheel-loader with an operating weight of 23,700 kilograms, a bulldozer that dwarfed almost everything else on the road.

When his rampage was done, the Arab-Israeli construction worker had killed three people, injured 45 others, including two babies, destroyed a panel truck and six cars while badly damaging two city buses, one of which was flung on its side onto the sidewalk of Jaffa Rd. in central Jerusalem.

British Remove MEK From Terror List
A few hours ago the House of Commons and the House of Lords unanimously voted to remove the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI[MEK]) from the list of proscribed organizations. Therefore, the PMOI is finally out of the list of proscribed organizations in the UK. The order was laid last month by the Home Secretary before both Houses of Parliament on the order of the British Court of Appeal.

Deadly Clashes End Lebanese Peace Deal
WEEKS after Lebanon's Christian, Sunni and Shia political parties signed a power-sharing agreement, fighting has erupted in the northern city of Tripoli, killing nine people and wounding 50.

The clashes, which continued for a second day yesterday, were between supporters and opponents of the pro-Western Government led by Fouad Siniora.

Tehran Tries To Throttle MEK Through Iraqi Allies
Reaction by the Islamic Republic of Iran was swift; the regime mobilized its Iraqi allies among the Shiite fundamentalist camp, including Abdul Aziz al-Hakim’s SICRI/SIIC and the al-Dawa Party of Prime Minister Dr. Nouri al-Maliki and Moqtada al-Sadr, in order to avenge and counter the demands of the Solidarity Congress. Tehran insisted that the Iraqi government introduce legislation in the Iraqi National Assembly[v] banning contact with the PMOI and calling for the removal of the Multi-Force protection of the PMOI’s Camp Ashraf, as well as the expulsion of PMOI personnel from Iraq.

Palestinian Nabka - The Obvious Mystery
So what is the mystery? The mystery is that nobody wants to actually do anything, or tries to do anything, to solve the refugee problem. Even more mysterious is the fact that nobody even talks about this amazing and cruel policy quirk. It is not just a matter of legal definitions and speechifying. It should be possible to quietly improve the appalling conditions in the worst camps in Lebanon, where there is often no proper sanitation and inevitably, streets are not paved. Yet nothing is done. Flush toilets and paved streets would not endanger the rights of the Palestinian Arab refugees. Mahmoud Abbas is an Arab Palestinian refugee. His rights are not curtailed in any way by the fact that he doesn't live in a camp, and enjoys flush toilets and paved streets. Since it took over Gaza and the West Bank in 1994, the Palestinian Authority did nothing to ameliorate conditions in any of the refugee camps, and made no move whatever to break up the camps and find decent housing for the inmates. After the Israeli incursion into the Jenin refugee camp, the camp itself, in all its miserable glory, was reconstructed to provide precisely the same miserable level of existence as it did before. Whose doing was that? The UN? Israel?

Supporting Israel Is Not Just a Jewish Cause
I have been asked why I support Israel even though I'm an atheist non-neoconservative. Conventional wisdom states that Israel's supporters can be categorized into 3 groups: Jews, Evangelicals, and neoconservatives. The Jews support Israel because they consider it to be their homeland and when they witness anti-Israel activity they feel like its an attack on "their people". Evangelicals support Israel simply because the bible tells them to. They believe those who bless Israel will be blessed, and those who curse Israel will be cursed. The neoconservatives support Israel because they view them as a strong U.S. ally and as "our partner in crime". They believe Israel supports their agenda of policing the world, and therefore neoconservatives of all faiths are generally pro-Israel.

Now I dont fit into any of the 3 categories listed above, yet I support Israel. I'm not a Jew, I'm an atheist. I'm not a neoconservative, I am a libertarian. And I am DEFINITLY not an Evangelical. So if I dont believe in god or in a "chosen people" why do I support Israel?

CAIR: Civil Rights Or Extremism?
The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) claims to be a leading U.S. civil rights group – an Islamic version of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) or the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). It describes its mission as enhancing understanding of Islam, protecting civil liberties, and empowering American Muslims.

But unlike the NAACP and ADL, CAIR has been listed by the Justice Department as an unindicted co-conspirator in a terrorism funding trial. Unlike those groups, its alumni include former officials and staffers who have been convicted on terrorism-related charges. Unlike the NAACP or ADL, CAIR’s co-founders had ties to an international religious extremist movement, the Muslim Brotherhood. Founded in Egypt in 1928, the Muslim Brotherhood has influenced many Sunnis with its anti-Western, anti-Jewish, anti-modern and anti-secular ideology. It inspired or spawned extremist off-shoots including al Qaeda and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).

UN Envoy: Israel Has Given Syria A 'Huge Gift' For Free
A senior United Nations official has harshly criticized Israel's
indirect negotiations with Syria, whose second round ended yesterday, charging that "Israel has given Syria a huge gift, without thus far receiving anything in exchange."

Terje Roed-Larsen, the UN secretary-general's special envoy for the implementation of Security Council Resolution 1559, made the comments last week in a conversation with Israeli diplomats.

In a classified telegram to the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem, Israel's UN delegation wrote that Larsen had complained that "Syria is receiving
legitimacy for free."

"Europe is courting the Syrians because of the negotiations with Israel, and they are no longer being asked to give anything in exchange," the telegram quoted Larsen as saying.

BBC's Mark Urban Feeds Anti-Israel Prejudice
In a March 12, 2008 report, BBC correspondent Mark Urban highlighted Palestinian grievances against Israel while imposing his own interpretation of Israeli motives–namely, that Israeli authorities are withholding gas and other supplies from Gaza as a deliberate means of exercising control over the Palestinians – and for fiscal gain!

The ongoing Palestinian terror attacks that have forced the Israeli Government to implement measures to protect its citizens merit only a brief mention in his report.

No Easy Answers For Gaza
I had no intention of providing a solution. I only intended to explain some of the reasons why the Israeli government is not rushing to adopt either of the simplistic solutions suggested by pundits of right and left: "wipe 'em out" or "cut a deal." A deal would legitimize Hamas rule and give it a new lease on life. If Israel is willing to abide Hamas rule, it would signal to Europeans and others that it is OK for them to deal with Hamas. A military operation is risky and costly.

In stark contrast, Muhammad Asghar, the member who invited Prosor and the first Muslim in the Welsh Assembly, was quoted by the Western Mail paper: "For all my life I've been listening to one side of the facts all of the time. I think there won't be a better person than the Israeli ambassador to tell me the views of Israelis in this whole conflict."

Four members of a Palestinian family were assaulted on Sunday as they were herding their sheep near the West Bank settlement of Susya in the south Mount Hebron area. The family claimed that the assailants were Jewish settlers.

Are Foreign Leaders Avoiding Israel?
Voices of concern about the possibility of a wave of postponements of high-level visits because of political instability here have been raised in Jerusalem after British Foreign Secretary David Miliband cut short a Middle East visit without meeting Israeli leaders, and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper postponed his trip altogether.
A spokeswoman at the British embassy in Tel Aviv denied that the quick return to London had anything to do with Israeli political instability, saying rather that Miliband flew back because of "important parliamentary business." Miliband was summoned back to London by British Prime Minister Gordon Brown for a key vote Wednesday on extending the detention of terrorists before they are charged from 28 to 42 days.
Harper, meanwhile, was supposed to arrive on his first visit to Israel next Monday, and - according to the Canadian news agency Canadian Press - postponed his trip because of political uncertainty in Israel.

Abbas Slams Obama Jerusalem Comment
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas rejected Barack Obama's call on Wednesday for Jerusalem to be the undivided capital of Israel and repeated his demand for a Palestinian capital in the city.

"This statement is totally rejected," Abbas told reporters. "The whole world knows that holy Jerusalem was occupied in 1967 and we will not accept a Palestinian state without having Jerusalem as the capital of a Palestinian state."

AIPAC And Obama
Obama is the story of the day, and even those among the AIPAC delegates who are averse to his policies - many will not give him their vote - understand how unique this moment is in American history. Obama will have to fight hard to get votes from the more conservative, skeptical members of the Jewish community, and this morning was a good start. Not that he has said anything of great significance. Today, all he needed to do is show up.

What Is The Palestinian Cause?
We hear all the time people talking about "the Palestinian cause". But what exactly is the Palestinian cause? Well, it depends on who you ask.

The average Jew is expected to be offended or upset when hearing about "the Palestinian cause" because they falsely believe the one bringing the cause into question has an Israel-rejectionism agenda. But if we take a look at what the Palestinian cause really is (or what it should be), we will realize that the vast majority of zionists have nothing to fear from their cause becoming a reality.

The Palestinian cause is simply creating a viable, independent, and free Palestinian state, side by side with Israel with no illegal settlements and no Israeli forces on or in control of Palestinian land. This is, off course, easier said than done.

US Professors Face Hostile Reception In Jerusalem
The American professors whose bestselling book, The Israel Lobby, provoked a media storm are bracing themselves for a hostile reception when they speak this week at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and in Tel Aviv.

Professors Stephen Walt and John Mearsheimer faced a barrage of criticism for their work, released last September as an expansion of an article published by the London Review of Books in 2006. They argue that the powerful pro-Israel lobby in the US has enormous influence on US foreign policy - operating, they say, against the American national interest and also the interests of Israel. While some describe the claims as a welcome contribution to debate on America's relationship with Israel, others denounce them as the work of Jewish conspiracy theorists.

God And The Constitution
On Sept. 17, 1787, after a long summer of argument and compromise, the Founders completed and signed what would become the U.S. Constitution. And despite popular misconception, it didn't include a word about the USA being a "Christian nation."

In fact, the Constitution doesn't mention Christianity, or God, at all. It is a secular document outlining the structure of what would become the new government of this nation.
