Bishara: Establishment Of Israel 'Armed Robbery'
Former Balad party chairman Azmi Bishara launched a scathing attack on Israel on Sunday night, saying it was the only apartheid regime left in the world.

"There is one other place in the world where apartheid is still [alive], which is in Palestine," Bishara said in a video address to the "Israeli Apartheid Week" conference in Toronto. "It is actually the biggest armed robbery in the history of the 20th century."

and lets remember Bishara is a former knesset member. a member of the israeli government. so he represents israel's arabs. and when he makes such trechorous comments about his home country, can you imagine why israeli jews will begin to despise their arab minority? can they be blamed?

Azmi Bishara's Apologia in The Lost Angeles Tmes
Accused of engaging in treason, Bishara defends himself from all charges claiming, “I have never used violence or participated in wars. My instruments of persuasion, in contrast, are simply words in books, articles and speeches.” His protestations of innocence glosses over previous activities and he dismisses as ridiculous the current charges against him: ...

Bishara Editorial: Why Israel is After Me
I AM A PALESTINIAN from Nazareth, a citizen of Israel and was, until last month, a member of the Israeli parliament.
-May 16 2007
It is interesting that Bishara, an Arab Israeli citizen, demands to be called a "Palestinian" yet he criticizes Israel for not treating its Arabs as full citizens. Bishara and the rest of the Israeli Arabs need to make up their mind whether they are Israeli citizens or Palestinians. They can't be both. Bishara also seems to miss the point that the reason why Arab citizens are despised is BECAUSE OF people like him who deny Israel's right to existence.

Hamas Urges Bishara to Return, Risk Jail
Hamas called on former MK Azmi Bishara to return to Israel and share the burden of supporting the Palestinian homeland alongside his compatriots - even if he is imprisoned for it, Israel Radio reported on Friday.

The group said in a statement that Bishara must be like the leader of the Islamic Movement's northern branch, Raed Salah, who did not abandon his homeland, but stood erect and went to jail.

Hezbollah Offers Bishara Assylum in Lebanon
"Should Azmi Bishara decide to seek political asylum here, we will welcome him on Lebanese soil," said Dr Ahmad Mali, a member of Hizbullah’s political council.

The Hizbullah official called Bishara "a fighter" and said he was leading a "battle of resistance" against Israel. He also advised Bishara to seek refuge in Beirut, but said it was up to the former MK to decide where he wanted to settle.

Arab Knesset Member: Bishara Must Return to Israel to Face Charges
"Bishara can't talk about it only in television broadcasts," the Arab MK told Haaretz. "We are members of Knesset. When we decided to run for the Knesset and were elected we accepted the rules of the game for better or for worse."

Barakeh said that whoever violates a law, even a law he does not recognize, "must recognize the right of the law to hold him to account."

Barakeh cited the law that had forbidden Israelis from having contacts with the Palestine Liberation Organization - a law that was repeatedly violated by MKs prior to the Oslo peace process. "We broke the law and we knew we'd pay a price," he said.

Bishara Accused of Aiding Hezbollah
"He's suspected of passing information on to Hizbullah during the Second Lebanon War and receiving money in exchange," a police source told. "The allegations are number one assisting an enemy during the war, handing over information to the enemy, being in contact with a foreign agent and number four a violation of money laundering laws."

The former MP denied the accusations in a statement published by his National Democratic Assembly party, better known by its Hebrew acronym Balad. "Doctor Azmi Bishara and the NDA categorically deny the charges fabricated against Doctor Bishara. It is bare-faced libel inciting his blood to be spilt in Israel," the statement said.

Analysis: Bishara and The Arab MK's Predicament
If only a quarter of the rumors circulating as to why MK Azmi Bishara is reluctant to return to Israel are true, he certainly doesn't deserve any of our sympathy. But his predicament should at least give us pause to reflect on the impossible nature of an Arab MK's job.

They are sworn in as members of Israel's parliament, solemnly obligated to implement the country's laws, but they represent a community that is still unreconciled to the existence of the Jewish state.

Sixty years is too short a time to forget the Nakba, the catastrophe of 1948, and their MKs are not allowed to become too comfortable in their seats. They are required to perform a balancing act between their role as representatives of an impoverished minority with very real daily needs, and their national duty to challenge the Jewish hegemony and identity of the state.

Grandstanding is easier than taking care of municipal budgets. The sewage flowing in the streets of Israeli Arab towns and villages is testimony to the inability of the lawmakers and central authorities to overcome the national confrontation and end inequality.

And of course they have an additional constituency, the Arab world, which has always looked down upon them as the weak and defeated Israeli Arabs. The MKs have to prove themselves daily on Al Jazeera and the other pan-Arab channels, to show that they are as radical as their Palestinian brothers across the Green Line.
That's why in recent years they've stopped calling themselves Israeli Arabs, preferring the name '48 Arabs, in enduring memory of the Nakba.

Bishara: I'm Being Persecuted
"I cannot serve as a member of Knesset if I am being politically persecuted," he told Hadith al-Nas, an Arabic newspaper published in Nazereth.

Firebrand Israeli Arab MP Set to Resign
Israeli Arab MP Azmi Bishara, a staunch opponent of Israel's policies toward the Palestinians and neighboring Arab states, is expected to resign from parliament, a report said Monday.

The report did not explain the reason for the surprise move by Bishara, who has drawn fire from Israeli authorities in the past over his positions and visits to Arab countries that Israel considers enemy states.

Bishara's loyalties are not to Israel. Therefore someone like him does not belong in the knesset

Arab Knesset Member Warns Hamas Against 'Substantial Concessions'
Arab Knesset Member Azmi Bishara (Balad) warned Hamas against making any substantial concessions to win the international community’s support.

Bishara’s comments were made during an interview with Jordanian newspaper al-Ra’i prior to the publication of his intention to resign from the Knesset.

yet another betrayal from one of Israel's Arab politician. Racism against any group of people is wrong, but how can anyone blame the Israelis for having negative views towards their Arab citizens? Al Sana and Bishara's comments are nothing less than a betrayal to their country. I cannot think of ANY other country in the world in which a politician has urged the world to boycott their country or has cheered for a sworn enemy of their country. Israelis aren't racist, they are worried.
